Establishing shots are a great way to sell stock footage. In this tutorial, I give you the basics of what sells.

The subject does not have to be famous. Just think of shots that someone might need in their wedding, travel, or news reel. Universities, schools, restaurants, office buildings, churches, airports, downtown scenes, streets or highways - anything could sell.

I suggest for drone shots, you get shots that show an approach or push in, pullback, orbit or parallax, ascending, and descending. Those simple movements sell best. For tripod shots, get close, medium and far views.

I also like to get different times of the day or even different seasons of the year.

I sell 5-15 establishing shots every month. It is a great way to add to your stock video and stock photography portfolio.
