Simulated wave propagation for a M7.7 scenario earthquake on the southern San Andreas Fault, accounting for nonlinear behavior in crustal rocks and soft sediments.

The simulations were run by a team from the Southern California Earthquake Center on the Blue Waters Supercomputer at National Center for Supercomputing Applications.

This research is sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

Simulations by Daniel Roten of San Diego State University; Yifeng Cui of the San Diego Supercomputer Center; Kim Olson, Steven Day, Kyle Withers and William Savran of San Diego State University.
