Hope Mill is a pioneer water-powered sawmill on the Indian River one mile north of Lang Ontario. Established in 1835 as a carding and fulling mill for processing wool it was converted to a saw mill in the 1880's, after the sawmill in Lang burned. The mill was run by the Hope family until the 1960's. In 2000, after being unused for many years, a volunteer group of retirees started to restore it. That work now completed, the milll is run by their non-profit Friends of Hope Mill whose mission is to preserve the history and demonstrate pioneer sawing.
