The mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette C8 was rumoured for a long time, finally built and is now becoming more available in Australia - though watch out for a nasty sting from dealers in the form of high delivery charges. Technically, you should be able to pick up a factory right-hand drive 2022 Corvette Stingray 3LT in Australia for about $170-180,000 driveaway depending on spec, which strikes us as a big bargain compared to a Porsche 911 or a entry-level Ferrari or Lamborghini supercar!

So, what’s the Corvette Stingray really like? We sent Chasing Cars road test journalist John Law out with a subtle, grey C8 Corvette on some challenging Australian roads to find out whether it’s worth your cash.

The mid-engined Corvette starts at $145K plus on-road costs in Australia for a ‘base’ 2LT model and heads up to $190K for a Carbon Edition. All use a 6.2-litre petrol V8 engine making 369kW of power (494 hp).

As always, we don’t accept advertising from car manufacturers, and we’re powered by Budget Direct - so this is an independent, honest review of the Chevrolet Corvette.
