The COGNITIVE INTERVIEW was created by Geiselman and Fisher in a bid to improve the quality of eye witness testimony. The Cognitive Interview has four distinct retrieval techniques at its core:
1) Re-establishing the context;
2) Reporting everything, however minor;
3) Recalling the events in a different order;
4) Changing perspective
