A mother's ambition leads her son to Custer's Last Stand and the Battle of the Little Bighorn...

For more on the life (and death) of 2nd Lieutenant Willian Van Wyck Reily, please see Brian Pohanka's excellent article in the Greasy Grass Magazine Volume 2, 1986.

Also, see Dr. Herman Viola's work, Little Bighorn Remembered, where he details the search for Reily's Ring.
Dr. Viola was a director at the Smithsonian and a history professor. One day a student came to class and told him her family had the personal letters and photos of "Uncle Willie" who died with Custer. Dr. Viola has a free podcast detailing this incredible find online (this story gives us hope that there is still new Little Bighorn material out there!!!! 🎉🎉🎉). I used some of those letter excerpts in this video.
