@Squishey 4 Reasons Why My 98 Toyota 4Runner Lock Cylinder Tumbler might not want to turn or work when fixing up and buying a used car.

1. The key is worn out. especially if it's old. Getting a new key would fix that problem.
I think the best way to troubleshoot is to try other locks.
If it works on other locks, maybe that isn't the problem.

2. Another reason might be because it's just stick. I've broken keys in tumblers
that are stuck. WD40 is recommended, then you need to lubricate it after
with a tri-lube, dry lub, or white lithium grease.
The Japanese cars use this split wafer system and they tend to stick.
Pocket lint and other gunk can really do job on split wafers.

3. Linkage and broken plastic clips on older cars have been an issue for me in the past.
It's easy to spot once the door panel is off.

4. A Stuck lock actuator was an issue for me on an RX300 and a Toyota Corolla.
The electric motor, gear or swivel latch sticks and all the linkage seizes up.
Trying to break it free can cause it to break or break a key.

Troubleshooting is the first step, then fixing the problem is the next.
