Daniel Lewis discusses legal practice as we enter the era of big data legal analytics, and the future of the data-driven lawyer.

Daniel is co-founder and CEO of Ravel Law. A legal research, analytics, and visualization platform, Ravel combines legal knowledge, machine learning, and comprehensive caselaw with an aim to transform how lawyers understand the law and prepare for litigation. Now a LexisNexis company, Ravel came out of work done at Stanford University’s law school, computer science department, and d.school, with the support of CodeX.

Daniel earned his JD from Stanford Law School and his BA from Johns Hopkins. At Stanford, he served as co-executive director of the Afghanistan Legal Education Project, was a summer associate at Cooley LLP, and consulted with Passport Capital. Prior to law school, Daniel worked as a national energy and transportation policy analyst at the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, DC. His experience also includes work with the Natural Resources Defense Council and United States Senator Barbara Boxer. Forbes named Daniel to its 30 under 30 in Law & Policy in 2015.
