How Did Mayweather Make His First Billion?

At 44 years old, Floy Mayweather is a professional boxing promoter and a former boxer with more than one billion dollars. But how did this guy become so rich? I mean, sure, boxing can be a promising career and if you’re good at it I’m sure you can make quite a lot of money. But one billion dollars sounds like a lot! However, this guy has that much money and he continues to make millions on a regular basis. This led many people to wonder, how did he become so rich? Well, in today’s video we’ll be talking about “The Steps that Mayweather Followed to Make His First Billion.” Believe it or not, becoming a billionaire is possible if we work hard for it. At least that’s what Mayweather believes. And today, we’ll look at the principles and events that led this guy to become the billionaire he is today.

A Golden Glove Champion

The 1993 edition of the Golden Gloves was the event that showed the world what Mayweather was capable of. He had 93 opponents, including Domenic Filane, who said that he instantly knew that Mayweather was going to be a star someday. Filane admits that Mayweather was difficult to strike and he showed a great sense of boxing. Mayweather won this championship and with that, he marked the beginning of a successful career. That was his first significant win and that happened almost thirty years ago. Surely, he knew that he would be big someday. But I wonder if he was already making plans of becoming a billionaire as well.

The Olympic Debut

Three years after his success at the Golden Gloves Championship. Mayweather became an Olympic star. He went to the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta only to become the center of a controversial round. While Mayweather dominated most of the boxing events, he was ousted during the semifinals. This was a scandal, and a lot of people debated that decision because it seemed like Mayweather deserved a ticket to the finals. However, it all worked out in the end. During an interview with CBS Sports, he said that he got ripped off, but that is what made him realize that it was time for him to become a professional boxer. He didn’t have time or energy for amateur drama.

Lightweight Success

The lightweight success started in the 2000s. And this is when things began to get better for this boxing star. As soon as he began to compete in high-profile bouts in the lightweight class, his earnings began to increase. He defeated Carlos Baldomir and got the Welterweight Title, which gave him a taste of what it’d be like to be a very rich person. I mean, he got 8 million dollars from this fight! From there, he went on to double and then triple those numbers. And that was just the beginning of a wealthy lifestyle.

Self-Preservation

Not everything in Mayweather’s life is about winning fights and making money. He also believes that taking good care of yourself can make you a richer person in a lot of ways. Sometimes he goes to Milan or other fashion capitals just to kick back, relax and go on shopping sprees to spoil himself before he schedules a fight. And his vacations are not cheap. One time he spent 300,000 dollars on a trip with 20 of his friends. It sounds like a lot of money, but he says that investing in these moments is part of keeping a successful lifestyle. Oh if only I was one of his close friends. How fun it would be to go to Milan without having to worry about money!

The Ride-Sharing Business

Do you prefer Uber or Lyft? These options are quite popular in the United States and Canada, but there are plenty of other ride-sharing platforms operating around the world. One of them is U-Hop, in the Philipines. And Mayweather believes that it’ll become a multibillion-dollar corporation in the near future. For that reason, he teamed up with them and they’re now hoping to become a worldwide platform that will transform the industry. Thanks to these investments, Mayweather can continue making money even if he’s not boxing anymore
