After leaving the end section of Sand Point I enjoy a great walk along small tracks hugging the top of 'Swallow Cliffs' with magnificent views of the geology below , the beach and the Bristol Channel.Carved into the beach area is the old MOD sea landing area and now a place for picnickers, fishermen, perhaps some fossil hunters. I sometimes stop here for a reflective moment in time but today I progress onwards aware of the volcanic rock here -so fascinating...with the odd clover looking pink flowers embedded on the edges of the rock here and there but not in abundance unlike the daisies, dandelions, buttercups and now Cowslips all finding their place...I pass the old ruin of a once fisherman's hut as this was quite place to fish in the past as an occupation. If only Time could take us back to observe this little hut and the people who stayed here long ago...So much history and probably to be found Online--I may even have a small booklet at home acquired during a past visit to the Priory where the museum within was a good resource....Remember Augustinian Monks in the 11th c. until the time of King henry VIII lived and worked this land--walked here, prayed here and observed the rocks, the coves and the Bristol Channel-- A very small tributary from the River Banwell river leads to the Priory and may well have been much larger in the past---a route to the sea and further up River....A trading route--hence the name and description Woodspring Priory---not visited today but well worth a visit....A Very brief Part V to follow--mainly photos...
