In Pakistan, a 4,000-year-old instrument called the borindo is disappearing. Fewer people can play it and cultural extinction is looming. Musician Faqir Zulfiqar is trying to save it.

Faqir performed at Wellcome Collection to raise awareness of the borindo and the impact its loss would have on his community. “The entire sorrow of my motherland is represented in this borindo", he told us.

Sit down with Faqir in our Reading Room and listen to this ancient clay instrument while hearing first-hand about its place in Sindh culture and the devastating impact of climate change in the region.
