Every pair of midrange earbuds has a strength. Jabra buds have a great design, Galaxy buds have tons of features, and here, Sennheiser buds have great sound quality. But in such a competitive space, they started adding so much more than just good sound. So let’s take a look at what else these have. The new Sennheiser CX Plus earbuds offer fantastic sound as well as ANC and lots of new features

ADDITIONAL REVIEW NOTES:
WHATS NEW
Just like the Sennheiser CX we really liked, but now with ANC, smart pause, transparent hearing, and aptX adaptive. The price is $50 higher, so let’s see if that is justified

PHYSICAL DESIGN
Water resistance = IPX4
Colors = white and black
Aesthetics = kinda bulky for the price
Fit, comfort, security = still very comfortable. Simple works
Charging = no wireless charging
Controls = fully customizable touch controls

MICROPHONE TEST

FEATURES
Slow power on
MONO MODE!!
Bluetooth 5.2
No multi-pairing, but easy to switch between devices via app
Transparency mode = multiple levels
App tour
Auto play/pause?
8/24 hr battery life

SOUND
CODECS: AAC, aptX, and aptX adaptive
aptX adaptive means crowded RF environments are no longer a problem
Lower latency (I was getting about 300ms while many buds are 400-500)
Adapts to have a more stable connection

ANC is smooth and clean, but compared to AP Pro, these block to volume 16 what the AirPods block to volume 20

CONCLUSION
$180 is a really tricky space. It has been extremely competitive for a while
2018, 2019, and early 2020, that was the go-to default price for new earbuds. As a result, so many brands are diverging to more premium and more budget friendly buds. At this price, you face the dichotomous market between very expensive and very premium buds for those who do not worry about price, and sub-$100 earbuds (which are really good now) for those seeking a more wallet friendly pair of earbuds. So will people be willing to compromise and buy these? They are fantastic but the compromises you make compared to premium models are wireless charging and the bulky design. Their goal is to nail the premium fundamentals in a more affordable pair
