In January, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its landmark 7–2 decision in Roe v. Wade, protecting a woman’s constitutional right to choose. This Oscar-nominated film features compelling first-person accounts which reveal the physical, legal, and emotional consequences during the era when both providing and undergoing an abortion were both criminal acts. This poignant oral history weaves together candid interviews revealing the tragedies, as well as the courage and heroism of individuals who risked arrest in order to help desperate women.
