Community groups in Victoria are in need of a lifeline, with exclusive figures obtained by Sky News revealing over a thousand of the state’s sporting hubs are at risk of going under.

A report by the Australian Sports Foundation shows 11 per cent of 12 thousand clubs fear insolvency, with clubs having lost an average of $32,000 in revenue during the pandemic – almost double the national average.

It is estimated it will take a year and a half for clubs to recover.

Patrick Walker, the Australian Sports Foundation CEO, says the report was done to “shine a light on the problem so that governments and anyone who cares about the role of sport are aware of the issues.”
