The base model of the 2022 GMC Sierra is now called Pro and we also get two brand new trim levels - the AT4X and Denali Ultimate trims, which you can think of as AT4 and Denali plus trims with a little bit of extra everything.

The AT4X is the most off-road-focused model in the Sierra 1500 lineup and it isn’t just for show. It comes with advanced dampers, electronic locking front and rear differentials, skid plates to protect the undercarriage and even the body of the truck with the rocker guards. The wheels are black 18-inch wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac Mud-Terrain tires. When in Terrain Mode, you can drive the AT4X with one-pedal in lower speeds while crawling over rough terrain.

If you’re more interested in a proper luxury truck the new 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate should do the trick. For the wheels GMC fitted the Denali Ultimate with massive 22-inch rims and way less aggressive tires than those you find on the AT4X. It’s primary focus is comfort and luxury and that’s exactly what you get.On the inside you’ll find a lot of leather and a lot of wood trim, just as expected. On top of that you have a 16-way power adjustmentable front seat with built-in massage functions.

What about the powertrain? You can still get the 2022 Sierra with a 355-hp 5.3-liter or a 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8. In addition, a 2.7-liter turbo inline-four and a 3.0-liter inline-six Duramax diesel are also available. What you can’t get anymore is the 4.3-liter V-6 which is cancelled for 2022. The chassis has been redesigned as well to give the Duramax diesel a towing capacity of up to 13,200 pounds. This is quite a huge step up from the previous 9200 pounds.

There are big changes on the inside as well with a new 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 13.4-inch center touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard if you go for the big touchscreen and you can also opt for a huge heads-up display.

The 2022 Sierra 1500 is expected to go on sale early next year with the base model Sierra Pro starting at $32,495 and the top of the range Denali Ultimate starts at an impressive $80,395, that’s a full $19,100 more than the regular Denali. The AT4, which is the one I would go for, starts at $60,995, and the AT4X costs $74,995 before any options. I think it’s fair to say that trucks aren’t cheap workhorse machines anymore.

After 15 years it’s finally here, the new 2022 Toyota Tundra. The standard powertrain is a 389-hp twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6, but there's also an available hybrid powertrain that makes 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque.

When the new 2022 Toyota Tundra goes on sale at the end of this year it will be available in SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794, and TRD Pro trim levels. These will all feature the 389 hp V6 to start. The hybrid with the 437 hp won't be available until early to mid 2022.

The 2022 Toyota Tundra’s new body-on-frame platform will also be used for the next Tacoma and 4Runner, both of which are due for an update.

One change that will improve the ride quality on the new truck is that it is now riding on coil springs instead of the old leaf springs. This should make for a much smoother ride.

Toyota didn’t want to fall behind when it comes to interior infotainment screens so they decided to go with a massive 14-inch touchscreen. A lot bigger than Ford and Ram’s 12.0-inch screens and slightly larger than Chevy’s new 13.4-inch unit. This is of course an option with the standard screen still being a solid 8.0-inches.

An analog gauge cluster comes standard on the base models, however you can get a high resolution 12.3-inch digital screen on higher trim levels.

Base price for the 2022 Toyota Tundra is $37,645 for the SR and goes all the way up to $58,685 for the top of the range Platinum.
