This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2021 Ford Mustang GT convertible. There is something special about the sound of a V8 Mustang!
With 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, it’s a riot to drive. Our test Mustang GT model comes with a 5L V-8 with a 10-speed automatic transmission, a 6-speed manual transmission is standard. It will cost you $1,750 CAD/ $1,595 USD for the automatic transmission. The RWD Mustang GT Premium convertible comes standard with LED headlights and taillights, LED fog lights, remote key-less entry, dual exhaust with quad tips, 18” x 8” aluminum wheels, illuminated entry and pony projection lights. 19” and 20” wheels are optional, our test model has 20” premium painted aluminum wheels for $1,500 CAD. Our test Mustang GT model does not come with the GT Performance package for $4,500 CAD/$6,500 USD or the MagneRide automatic adaptive sport suspension for $2,500 CAD/$1,695 USD. You have to buy the GT Performance Package before you can add the MagneRide package to your build. This Mustang GT Convertible now comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot 360 technology, which includes; automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, blind spot information system, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, rear view camera and active park assist 2.0.Some standard interior features on the GT Premium Convertible include, SYNC 3 with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, leather trimmed heated and cooled front seats, leather wrapped steering wheel with cruise and audio controls, heated mirrors, 6-way power drivers seat, 4-way power passenger seat, 9-speaker stereo system and key-less entry.There are plenty of packages to add to your Mustang, our test model comes with the Equipment Group for $2,200 CAD. You get a heated steering wheel, a 12” LCD digital instrument cluster and a voice actived touchscreen navigation system. We also have the B&O sound system for $1,000 CAD. JD Power gives the Mustang GT convertible an overall score of 86/100 and for quality and reliability a score of 88/100. Driving experience scored a 90/100. CarEdge states the Mustang GT convertible will retain 62% of its value after 5 years.
For fuel economy, the Mustang GT convertible gets 16.2L/100 km city, 15 MPG and 10.0L/100km highway, 24 MPG.
Ford offers a warranty of 3 years or 60,000 km.
