Until the unknown year of 2002, the world had not yet uncovered a secret hidden deep in the mountains of China's hinterland - a gigantic chimney spanning 300 meters, 150 meters of which mysteriously lurked deep in the mountains. This chimney was the heart of the 86 Underground River Project, a great mystery that began in 1966. In those stormy times, more than 60,000 people disappeared from the earth only to secretly excavate this hollowed-out peak. The town of Baitao, the site of this project, also disappeared from the map for more than 20 full years. The mountain was hand-dug into a vast underground labyrinth with nine floors, 79.6 meters high and 24 kilometers long, with walls made of steel and indestructible enough to withstand the impact of a megaton equivalent of a hydrogen bomb and the ravages of a magnitude 8 earthquake. The world's largest artificial cave building was finally unveiled to the world in 2010.

And in the lofty mountains of Guizhou, there is another walled highway hidden on a 100-meter-high cliff, which hangs above the Wujiang River and is called Xiongdong. This highway is a legendary road that was excavated in the 1960s with only primitive tools and hands. With a width of only 5 meters and the fast-flowing Wujiang River below, you can imagine how difficult it was to cut such a road in those days when machinery was not yet common. However, the indomitable spirit of that generation forged this development road, showing a kind of Yugong Yishan's spirit.

There is even a legend that this is the most dangerous section of highway in Guizhou, China, which is built on top of a treacherous cliff, with the famous Huajiang Grand Canyon below. The highway is part of the Guansing High Grade Highway, which stretches from Guanling County in Anshun City to Xingyi City, the capital of Guizhou Province, and is 114 kilometers long, with a bridge-to-tunnel ratio of up to 80%, with a whopping 88 bridges and 13 tunnels alone. Despite the great difficulty of construction, the people of Guizhou once again showed that indomitable spirit, not only to enhance the road network capacity of Guizhou, but also to promote the economic development of the areas along the route, so that the mountains are no longer an obstacle, the moat into a straight road.

Indeed, if you don't see it with your own eyes, it is hard to believe that there is a rich man's paradise hidden in the mountains of western Hunan. The tycoon, who earned his fortune outside, chose to return to the embrace of nature and built a chic villa on a cliff hundreds of meters high. It's not just a residence, it's an exquisite seclusion from the rest of the world. On the edge of the cliff, there is also a special glass viewing room, every morning, he can look at the magnificent mountain scenery in the distance. What's even more enviable is that a fish pond has been cleverly constructed below the viewing platform, adding a sense of tranquility and fun to the hermit's life. From time to time, he would invite three or two confidants to drink a cup of tea and enjoy the idyllic life away from the hustle and bustle of the world. Everyone who visits this place is longing for this kind of life back to the basics, does this kind of seclusion make your heart beat faster?

On the other hand, in Guizhou, the representative place of Chinese bridges, the Sanko River Bridge currently under construction is also an engineering miracle. Located at the junction of Shucheng District in Liupanshui City and Qinglong County in Qianxinan Autonomous Prefecture, this bridge is a key project of the Nayong-Qinglong Expressway. With a total length of 1,849 meters and a main span of 1,080 meters, this two-tower, single-span steel girder suspension bridge is the 11th highest bridge in the world, with its deck 380 meters above the river. The construction of the entire bridge was extremely difficult, with the total weight of the girder segments exceeding 16,000 tons and the maximum lifting weight of a single girder segment being 231.3 tons. The completion of this bridge will not only effectively enhance the north-south transportation connection in the western part of Guizhou Province, but will also become a fast channel connecting Sichuan, Guangxi and Guizhou. It is expected to be completed and open to traffic by the end of 2024, which will then greatly promote economic exchanges between regions.
