Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping may have a “no limits” friendship, but the alliance is not one of equals. Since the invasion of Ukraine, Russia has become increasingly dependent on China. The relationship, of deep concern to the US, was on full display at this year’s Belt & Road Forum in Beijing–Putin’s first trip abroad since an international warrant was issued for his arrest.
