August 1st, is National Summit Day, a day all about celebrating the mountains we love, the challenges we face when you head out on that climb and the accomplishment of getting to the top. We sat down with an accomplished mountaineer, Sunny Stroeer, to inspire you to get out there on National Summit Day.

Sunny is a free spirit and adventurer. Formerly a hard-charging strategy consultant, she turned her back on material possessions and career shortly after turning 30 in order to live in an Astro Van so she could run and climb full-time instead. Sunny found joy in climbing high altitude peaks around the world, but noted a radical gender gap in the mountaineering world - which is what led her to launch AWExpeditions, a high altitude guiding business by women for women. AWE offers all-female trips across three continents with more destinations in the making, and offers a women's expedition scholarship program.
