Thsi is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2024 Acura MDX Type S high performance 3-row luxury SUV. The 2024 Acura MDX Type S has a 3L turbo V6 with a 10-speed automatic transmission, 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. Acura recommends premium fuel.
The 2024 Acura MDX Type S has ride height adjustable air suspension, brembo brakes, an additional sport + drive mode, track inspired torque vectoring technology, a double wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension. The steering is precise but fairly light. It gets a bit heavier in sport mode.
The 2024 Acura MDX Type S is a 7-passenger vehicle with an aggressive stance, a long hood and an oversized 3D diamond patterned grille, black trim, black exterior accents, black roof rails, LED Jewel Eye headlights, LED fog lights, LED taillights, 21” wheels and wide performance tires, quad round exhaust pipes, Type S badging and a tire repair kit.
There is just one 2024 Acura MDX Type S trim in Canada and two in the US so the US doesn’t get as many standard features but they are all available. The Type S offers a comfortable interior that’s well laid out with plenty of storage. Our test model has perforated leather quilted trimmed seats with contrast stitching, piping, a metallic wood panel, interior accent lighting with 25 different light up areas and metal sports pedals. In the US, the base Type S model has an ultra-suede and leather interior but the top trim gets the quilted leather. The only downside to this interior is the trackpad to control the display screen, it’s glitchy and it would be nice to see something different in the MDX.
In Canada, the 2024 Acura MDX Type S Ultra is $88,408 CAD and in the US the Type S starts at $68,450 USD and Type S Advance $73,800 USD.
Fuel economy, the Type S gets 13.8L/100 km, 17 MPG city and 11.2L/100 km, 21 MPG highway, it can tow 5,000 pounds.
