Up there with the DeLorean, the Sinclair C5 was another prospective answer to the question of sustainable transport going forward, with a low-slung design being complimented by a polymer-based bodyshell and a small battery powered electric motor, creating what its namesake inventor hoped would be the future of the automotive industry.

Instead, what resulted was a monumental failure, and a machine that spent years being chided as one of the biggest automotive jokes in history, though even at the peak of its harsh criticism and scorn, many observers could see a machine destined to become a future cult classic, with speculators making a notable profit further down the line on the resale of these obscure little machines.
