Nikon's Z Series mirrorless cameras have been a commercial success for the company. But did you know the Z series was preceded by another mirrorless camera series that wasn't anywhere near as successful?

The Nikon 1 series cameras were compact and pretty well specified but also expensive and pretty limited in lens choice.

So in this video we look at the Nikon 1 J1, J2, J3, J4 and J5 and also discuss the Nikon 1 V1, Nikon V2, Nikon V3, Nikon S1, Nikon S2 and AW1. That's every Nikon 1 mirrorless camera the company released.

I include a few sample images and also discuss how some features from the 1 series might have made their way to the Z series and perhaps where Nikon learned a lesson or two on what not to repeat.
