The series premiered in 1994 on BravoTV where it aired for 22 seasons and was hosted by James Lipton from it`s premiere until 2018. Inside The Actors studio with Morgan Freeman as guest was recorded in 2004. Most of the shows was a one-on-one interview conducted by the host James Lipton in the 22 seasons. It`s followed by the host submitting a questionnaire to the guest.
The questionnaire concept aired on Actors Studio was originated by the French television personality Bernard Pivot on his show Apostrophes, (1975–1986) the Proust Questionnaire.
Lipton closes with a question-and-answer session with Morgan and the students.
