* * * * * THE TRACKLIST IS HERE: http://remembervideos.blogspot.com/20... * * * * *

Here it is, my first REMEMBER video of 2017. This time we're going back to the 80s, to the year musically dominated by new wave, synthpop and rock. Michael Jackson was the biggest star alive with hits from his best selling album Thriller, while at the same time, Prince, Hall and Oates, Duran Duran, The Police, Billy Joel, Culture Club, and Lionel Richie were all scoring multiple hits as well. Legendary movies like Scarface and Return Of The Jedi hit the theatres, while The A-Team started airing on NBC. Not a good year for video games, as the great 1983 crash hit the US, fortunately the golden age of arcade games was still going on and Famicom, the console that would be released two years later in the US as NES, got released in Japan.

So, I present to you, 1983! One of the most defining years of the 80s! Prepare to dive straight into the golden age of MTV!

TRIVIA:
- Like always, I had to make some cuts when it comes to music and not all songs that I originally planned to include made the final cut. Those include "I'll Tumble 4 Ya" by Culture Club (I already had enough Culture Club songs in the video, and this one really started to annoy me tbh), "Synchronicity II" by The Police (again, I already had 3 The Police songs in the vid), "Telephone" by Sheena Easton, "Words" by FR David, "They Don't Know" by Tracey Ullman (kind of regret not including this one), "Wham Rap" by Wham!... I generally cut very little this time, most songs I wanted to put in the video made it.
- I did not include songs that were released two years earlier and became hits in the UK a year before they reached the US, like "Down Under" by Men At Work or "Stray Cat Strut" by Stray Cats. I did include other songs by these artists that were released in 1983 and became hits that year.
- In the very last moment, when I completed the video and was preparing to upload it on YouTube, I suddenly realized that I forgot about "Holiday Road" by Lindsey Buckingham, the song from National Lampoon's Vacation, so I decided to make a last minute edit. That's why the transition between that song and Human League's "Fascination" and UB40's "Red Red Wine" might feel a little off.
- The audio mix took me 1 month to put together, while putting together all the video clips took me 2 months. That is mostly because I did not really enjoy searching for video clips. The most fun I had while making this video came from completing the audio mix, digging up for some really really obscure video clips was a chore. That's why I am definetely not taking on any more 80s videos for a long time.
