I spend a week with the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 Launch Edition. This version is the rear-wheel-drive 201 hp base powertrain that's paired up with an 82 kWh battery and has 250 miles of range. Overall, the ID.4 is a smooth, quiet and unoffensive vehicle to drive for the most part, but it certainly has a few imperfections and lacks the fun and excitement that other competing electric vehicles offer. Because of this more plain character, the ID4 really is the mainstream crossover, electrified. For the millions of yearly crossover buyers wanting a more normal experience, this could be a very good thing. Only time will tell if Volkswagen's take on an electric SUV will be a success. What do you think about the VW ID 4 and is it better than the Tesla Model Y to you? Thanks to Volkswagen for providing this Volkswagen ID 4 vehicle to review.
