Fresno isn’t often included on the “top 10” places to visit in California, so you might be surprised to learn that in 1958 it played a central role in reshaping the face of how the entire world does business. Bank of America’s BankAmericard was the world’s first universal revolving credit card and in September 1958, the bank mailed out 60,000 BankAmericard credit cards to residents of its purposely selected remote test market: Fresno, California. The project was nearly a complete failure, but it eventually morphed into the iconic credit card we know today – Visa.

In this episode, I check out the city of Fresno for myself…or at least as much as I could in light of the 105º heat.
