👋 In todays comparison test we have the 2022 Nissan Frontier PRO 4X VS the 3RD Generation Toyota Tacoma TRD Offroad!!! We decided to do a practicality test between these two mid size trucks to see just how practical they are for the smaller size truck segment!
For our first test we wanted to see how usable the bed space is! On the Tacoma, it can accommodate two dirt bikes easily, plenty of room on the floor of the bed. Downsides are the bed only comes plastic, you have to buy tie downs and the front channel rail and there is no step to get into the bed. The Frontier actually held the bikes fine for being slightly smaller. The Frontier has a spray in bed liner and even channels for the tires to go into. It comes with the tie downs and channel rails and even a side step. Both can hold them though, just have minor differences.
Second test was maneuverability with doing a three point turn. Surprisingly the Tacoma has a way tighter turning radius and the Frontier had to make an extra turn. This makes the Frontier nicer to drive on the highway, but in parking lot situations or offroad, it's a slight set back. The Frontier also had the 360 camera and sensors which is helpful! The Tacoma does offer sensors you can get, but no 360 camera system.
The storage space in the back seats was very similar, the Tacoma had the hard backing to the seats so when they are folded down, you don't have to worry about puncturing the backs like the cloth on the Frontier seats. The Tacoma had more storage behind the seats, but less leg room and/or storage on the floor. The Frontier had power outlets which is a plus, but both seem to be very close!
The final test we through at the 2022 Nissan Frontier PRO 4X and the Toyota Tacoma was the ease to put into four wheel drive along with a small towing test! The four wheel drive system in the Frontier is easier to get into and quicker, but they both had zero problems or spinning pulling out the other truck! Definitely two great competitors for the mid size truck. Let us know which one you would pick and why!!!
