My November 2019 review of the first VW T-Roc R is here (100% basic spec apart from Lapiz blue paint);
   • *NEW* VW T-ROC R - BETTER than Golf R?

*PLEASE NOTE SOME OF THE SPEC ON THIS PRESS CAR IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE FOR THE UK MARKET INCLUDING IQ HEADLIGHTS AND BEATS SOUND PACK*

This video (which is quite possibly a UK first) is a thorough 32 min review of the brand new VW T-Roc R which has just been subject to a 2022 facelift. There is lots to like about this car but there is one attribute which makes it too hardcore for me to be able to live with, this may not be an issue for you though. I've gone out on a limb here, though I am confident in my verdict. I've not seen any other reviews to influence the verdict apart from Autogefuhl in Germany and they hinted at this problem but it's something that is usually less apparent in Germany.

It's great to be able to share with you a detailed and early review of a new model VW, big thanks to VW UK for enabling it. I will try and make these regularly from now on and won't stick to just performance derivatives.

This video was filmed on the day before and the day of release (driving and summary was on day 2 with filming completed at around 6pm). I am trying to stick to one video a week, ideally uploaded on a Friday pm. The summer has been tricky with a lot of videos not doing well due to good weather and holidays, but September on should be a lot better and there will be some good videos (VW Multivan Hybrid full review (first point - it's not a van!), Goodyear F1 Assymetric 6 (vs Assymetric 5) track test in France with Cupra Formentor, Audi TTS, Tesla Model 3, new Porsche 911 992 GT3, Ferrari 458 Speciale(!) - new T-Roc cabrio full review and more Porsche Boxster GTS road trip videos from a new autumn trip and before that a review of the 9000 miles I've done in it).

Additional optional equipment on the test vehicle:
– Rear view camera (£275)
– Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) – variable suspension settings; sport, comfort, normal and individual (£1,065)
– IQ. Light LED Matrix headlights – with LED separate daytime running lights and dynamic cornering light, LED
rear tail light with dynamic turn signal, Ambient lighting and illuminated front grille (£1,650)
– alternative alloy wheels – 8J x 19-inch ‘Estoril’ Black diamond-turned alloys, with 235/40 R19 tyres and antitheft wheel bolts (£765)
– ‘Akrapovic’ titanium sports exhaust (£3,545)
– Winter pack – heated front seats, heated windscreen washer jets and washer fluid level indicator (£295)
– ‘beats’ sound pack - with six-speakers plus subwoofer, 300-watt power output and 8-channel amplifier (£470)
Colour and trim: Lapiz Blue metallic (£825) with Titanium Blue / Black ‘R’ trim upholstery
