Turtles occur on 6 of our 7 continents. They inhabit a variety of habitats both aquatic and terrestrial and remain some of planet earth’s most intriguing creatures. Armored with a shell and rugged scales, turtles possess some of nature’s most remarkable, protective traits yet they sit in a delicate balance as the pendulum swings out of their favor. You see, many turtle species are endangered, critically endangered or even extinct in the wild. Others rest temporarily with titles such as “vulnerable” or “threatened” before their species crashes even further. Much is being done to keep turtles around for generations to come but it’s simply not enough. You can start helping turtles by just becoming familiar with them and their types. In this reptile education video, we cover 15 turtle species in 15 minutes (well, close to it) that we have right here at Garden State Tortoise and highlight some of the most interesting facts about each one.
