Nearly two years ago I reviewed the Arlo Pro 4 for Amazon as part of the Vine testing programme. I gave praise to the quality of the camera and the ability of the app to differentiate between people, animals and general movement. However, I was also left unimpressed with the high cost of the camera, the lack of local memory storage, buggy installation, cost of the almost necessary cloud storage and some irritating flaws with the app such as not being able to view it on more than one device at a time.

Now, Amazon have supplied me with the latest Arlo Pro 5 to carry out an updated review. This time, however, I have a benchmark to score it against in the shape of the still-for-sale Pro 4. What has two years of progress in the fast moving world of tech brought us then?
