Rivian has officially unveiled the Rivian R2, a compact electric SUV with a long range. It will enter the market only in 2026 and will cost from $45,000.
It will be much more affordable than the current Rivian R1S SUV, which starts at $74,900.
The Rivian R2 retains the same design and is actually a smaller version of the Rivian R1S electric SUV.

The new R2 is available with three different electric drivetrain setups.
The base model is equipped with a single electric motor that drives the rear wheels.
All-wheel drive will be available in more expensive configurations with dual or triple motors.
The top-of-the-line three-motor system has two motors on the rear axle and one on the front axle, which can accelerate the SUV to 60 mph in less than three seconds.
There are new batteries in the floor in two different sizes, the largest of which provides a range of more than 300 miles on a single charge.

At the DC fast charging station, the car can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in less than 30 minutes.
The R2's interior features two rows of five-seaters and a large luggage compartment behind the second row.
A 15.6-inch infotainment system display is located in the centre of the dashboard.
The new generation steering wheel has integrated controls with haptic feedback, so you can do more without taking your eyes off the road.

The spacious front boot offers more space for stowage.
The rear window is electrically operated.

The bike rack system simply slots into the accessory ports on the rear panel so you can take your bike with you.

The R2 is built on a connected vehicle platform that Rivian designs and develops in-house. This means your vehicle can evolve over time with software updates that unlock new features and improve performance.
