The Young Engineers series is a collection of STEM Projects that I developed while teaching K-6 students. Every project uses the same set of inexpensive materials so it's cost effective for parents and educators to do multiple projects or teach large groups. Printable lesson plans and project picture sheets are available at https://www.stem-inventions.com/lesso...

Crash Test Car:
Did you know that real scientists and engineers destroy cars on purpose to learn how safe they would be in a crash? It's true!

Now it's your turn to create and crash a DIY car! The goal is to keep a plastic egg safely seated inside, and prevent its head from touching the ground in the event of a rollover accident.

This is a completely open-ended project. There's no right way to build it, but be sure to limit key materials like cups and rubber bands to encourage creative solutions!
