These cars have a familiar look, and in the GT4's case this is a probably fair, a tweak here and there but the basic ingredients are very similar to the last generation but in the Boxster's case although the looks maybe familiar this car has been gifted the GT4's suspension and this is going to make the handling even better than on the last outing raising the game to the highest level. In addition a modified front splitter and rear diffuser help generate more downforce than before and without affecting drag.

Both the GT4 and Boxster gain a new high-revving 4.0 litre, 6-cylinder boxer engine based on the 992 911’s engine sans turbos. This engine increases power to 414bhp up 34bhp on the GT4 44bhp on the Spyder whilst torque remains the same, 310lb ft. The engine is paired to a short-throw six-speed manual gearbox, with drive delivered to the rear wheels through a mechanical limited-slip differential pretty much as before. The front axel is taken straight from the current GT3 and the at the rear, the architecture is largely carried over from the Cayman, but the dampers are inverted in true motorsport style and the control arms and subframe are pure GT3.

Porsche has also introduced Adaptive Cylinder Control, shutting cylinders down as required, to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. PASM is standard and the two cars sit 20mm lower than Caymans fitted with sports suspension. Ultimately there's nothing to match this level of precision, balance and feel at this price point, and little beyond it in terms of pure behind-the-wheel appeal. And we'll say it again: this chassis is nothing short of sensational.
