Synopsis:
We’ve noticed the MANY solar generator options out on the market, and have reviewed as many as we can get our hands on, but they all have a major weakness: They are independent micro-grids. A microgrid is an electrical system which is responsible for its own electrical generation, storage, and distribution. Unfortunately, because all of these systems are independent, they all require manual transfer of devices and circuits in the event of emergency. EcoFlow seems to be the first company to integrate their products with the grid, and they’ve done it really well!

EcoFlow’s first Smart Home Panel was a proprietary juggernaut of relays, unique ports, and extra wiring connections, but the Smart Home Panel 2 is a thing of simplified beauty. With 4 available power inputs (utility, battery, solar, & generator) and well-thought power transfer features, this is the most comfortable we’ve ever been with DIYers mixing battery storage and solar into their home’s breaker box.
