The forest rich African nation of Gabon has become a stronghold for earth’s largest and most vibrant monkeys, the mandrills.
Within their densely forested home, the colourful monkeys live in huge groups of up to 200 individuals. With plenty of mouths to feed, the mandrills travel over 10km every day in search of sustenance.
Females make up the majority of the troop but it is fact the impressively coloured males that govern; the strongest of which is the alpha, who must lead from the front.
The top position in the group is hotly contended and when two new males enter the group, a battle for dominance ensues. Contrasting characters collide and the fate of the troop is determined in a uniquely mandrill way.
