A behind-the-scenes look at Stephanie Metz's large-scale, touchable felt sculpture project 'InTouch'.
**Wearing a respirator is important when cutting polystyrene with hot wires, especially if you're doing it a lot. I know, I didn't in this video-- I used a plastic-walled space with a window to the outdoors, and used a fan to circulate the air. Should have just grabbed my respirator.
**SO MANY people ask about the foam carving tools used: get them at https://hotwirefoamfactory.com/ (and no, I do not have any official affiliation with them, but SO MANY people ask).
As for the glue, I use Styrogoo Instant Tack EPS Foam Glue, also from Hot Wire Foam Factory.
This video shows my process for carving foam models, with a look at the tools, safety (remember that respirator!), and clean-up.
