On April 7, Sol 46, perseverance took the first selfie on Mars with the Mars helicopter Ingenuity. This video explains how the rover did it. The rover used a camera mounted on its robotic arm to take 62 individual images to create one selfie. The camera's name is WATSON. The robotic arm positioned the camera at different angles to capture the images. In this video, you will see how the camera was being positioned. After the rover finished taking the images, it sent them back to Earth. When those images were stitched together with the help of photo editing software, they form a panorama selfie like what you see at the end of the video. The same technique was used by the Curiosity rover.
