Anselm Kiefer's exhibition at White Cube is named 'Walhalla' after the hall in Norse mythology where fallen soldiers were taken by the Valkyries. Kiefer has often explored historical cycles, religious belief and the legends people create to make sense of life. His art is also driven by a curiosity about the danger of ideologies that justify conflict but he finds hope in inevitable human regeneration.
