On November 14th, 2022, a Piper Super Cub pilot surveying beach erosion following hurricane Nicole declared an emergency at St. Augustine Airport-Northeast Florida Regional Airport. However, the pilot was not able to make it to the airport and had to make an emergency landing at Anastasia State Park beach.
