We ride the all-new 2024 Triumph TF 250-X! The iconic British marque has joined the motocross ranks with its incredibly capable TF 250-X. The hotly anticipated 250cc model has been teased for months, but behind the scenes, Triumph worked with MX racing champions Ricky Carmichael and Iván Cervantes to guide development of its new off-road competition model. This isn't a copy and paste job from the competition—the Hinkley factory have developed an all-new engine and chassis to power its MX machine.

The powerful new single-cylinder DOHC engine features today's leading technology, boasting a forged aluminum piston, titanium valves, and a 5-speed gearbox. Numerous other trick bits include low-friction DLC coatings on internal components, lightweight magnesium covers, and a high-quality Exedy Belleville clutch. During this First Ride Review, Associate Editor Will Embree noted that the TF 250-X's nearly 48 horsepower is tractable and displayed impressive performance throughout the entire rev range.

On the chassis front, adjustable KYB suspension is standard and features a wet weight of 229 pounds, achieving a new power-to-weight standard within this highly competitive segment. While Triumph utilized some of the best in motocross community to develop its new engine and chassis, brand representatives also worked with beginner and intermediate riders to ensure that the TF 250-X appeals to a broad audience.

The motocross community has been waited with baited breathe to see what the Triumph TF 250-X can do, and we sent our very own Associate Editor Will Embree of @SMXPictures to give it a proper test. What's his verdict? The TF 250-X delivers a riding experience that riders of varying skill levels will appreciate. At $9,995, the Triumph promises a lot at a competitive price.
