The founder and CEO of @twitter and @square - Jack Dorsey was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on November 19, 1976. Growing up in St. Louis, Dorsey became interested in computers and communications at an early age and began programming while still a student at Bishop DuBourg High School. He was fascinated by the technological challenge of coordinating taxi drivers, delivery vans and other fleets of vehicles that needed to remain in constant, real-time communication with one another. When he was 15, Dorsey wrote dispatch software that is still used by some taxicab companies today.
It was last November that the founder of Twitter announced his plan of visiting Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa. Jack Dorsey has concluded his visit to Africa, by making the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa his last destination.
During his stay in Addis, he spent a lot of time with various entrepreneurs and individuals in the tech sector. Besides #MellaMonthly, he also attended several question and answer sessions at Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (AAIT) and Lebawi Academy.
Dorsey twitted on Wednesday that he is “Sad to be leaving the continent…for now. Africa will define the future (especially the bitcoin one!). Not sure where yet, but I’ll be living here for 3-6 months mid-2020. Grateful I was able to experience a small part”.
