Gov. Ron DeSantis is providing an update after Hurricane Hunters found lower pressure during a recent flight into Tropical Storm Elsa.

That's an indication the storm is getting stronger, but its maximum sustained winds of 70 mph remain the same as of the latest advisory.

A hurricane warning has been issued for parts of the Tampa Bay area in anticipation Elsa could reach hurricane strength.

As of the 5 p.m. Tuesday advisory from the National Hurricane Center, Elsa holds maximum sustained winds of 70 mph and is moving north at 10 mph.

The National Hurricane Center issued the hurricane warning for the west coast of Florida from Egmont Key to the Steinhatchee River. A tornado watch was issued for the Tampa Bay area until 11 p.m. Tuesday.
