The VW Touareg made a return to the Malaysian market after 12 long years. And since then, a lot has changed for the Touareg. It is better and more sophisticated than ever. But it also marks the first time a Touareg has been assembled outside of Bratislava - where the Touareg has been made since 2002.

So when VW Malaysia announced the price of RM469,900, it came as a bit of a shock to some. "Isn't it too expensive for a locally-assembled model?" Said some members of the media. It is just RM50,000 cheaper than the BMW X5, and Malaysians are suckers for brands.

But did VW Malaysia really miss the boat? Or are they going to nail this one?
