Gujarat’s Siddi community performed the Dhamal dance as they made their way to polling booths of Madhupur Jambur, Junagadh district in Gujarat. The Siddi community is a Scheduled Tribe (ST) who are found in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.

They are primarily concentrated in the Junagadh district of the Rajkot division in the state. They are believed to be of African origin with features of the Negroid race. 

This tribe is also known by other names such as Habshi and Badsha.

According to the 1981 census, the population of the Siddi tribe was 54291 as per the Gujarat government.
