Welcome to this week's Tribe Tutorial, we are now getting into the nitty gritty part of becoming a kitesurfer, the board starts. At this stage in your kitesurfing career you're looking to ensure that you're going out at the perfect time to enhance your learning experience. You should be looking for flat water, suitable wind conditions and the right size equipment. Board wise you should be looking at a high volume board or generally a longer board when you're talking about twin tips.

This part of learning to kitesurf can be frustrating if you have never done board sports before. My immediate advice is take your time, make sure you are completely comfortable with flying and managing the kite. If your kite skills are poor, progress on the board will be slow. You're almost there so good luck and enjoy the ride!

Tribe Watersports is a kitesurfing school that operates in Watamu, Kenya. We are always happy to walk you through the different riding spots and provide you with all the information you need to ensure your time in Watamu is not only great fun but also safe.
