PLEASE READ BEFORE VIEWING:

The scene you’re about to see is from a feature-length film script called Here There Be Monsters. In order to understand what’s happening, a little background is needed.

Our story is set in Helgrind, a village deep in the heart of the darkest part of the forest. It is plagued by a race of monsters that attack often and without warning. As such, the people of the village are a hardy, brutal stock. And the hardiest and most brutal among them is their king, Egon. He is married to Adelaide, who like the rest of the village, respects his authority but fears his anger. Their son Sindri has his birthday today. At the feast, Egon punishes a latecomer by sending him out into the monster-infested woods at night, effectively ending his life. He orders Conrad, his second in command, to take Sindri out to witness justice being served. When the latecomer tries to make a run for it back into the village, Sindri draws his sword and forces him through the gate, just like his father would.

As an overlap project between Acting For the Camera and Scriptwriting, we were tasked with filming a short scene from a longer, feature-length script I am writing. Thanks to Josh Bootsma, Tommy Shin, Alex Rexford, and Harrison Burns for starring, and Janelle Cammenga for helping out during filming.
