Hey everyone,

Welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. In this video, we’re going to be discussing the widely-hated Peter Pettigrew. He’s really up there with the most-hated characters of the series, comparable even to..dare I say it? Umbridge

Pettigrew started at Hogwarts in the year 1971, the same year that Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and James Potter began attending the school. The quartet of boys would eventually form a group called the Marauders. One thing that they had in common was that they were all Gryffindors. The Marauders were hellbent on breaking the rules at the school, and were notorious for their rule-breaking and mischief making. The group existed for 7 years, from 1971-1978, and all members were active participants in the first wizarding war. All 4 boys would also go on to join the order of the phoenix, which was a secret society founded by Dumbledore that opposed Lord Voldemort. But not before long, Pettigrew was betraying all of those that trusted him, and ousted the Potters to Voldemort when they were in hiding.

Given that Pettigrew exhibited very different behaviour than the other Marauders, I've always wondered why he was initially sorted in to Gryffindor. In this video, we'll be diving in to WHY he was sorted there, and not in to Slytherin.
