This partly a video I've wanted to make for a long time, and partly a response to Tom Scott's recent video "Why You Should Write Down Your Goals".
Writing your goals down definitely helps you achieve them. Telling people about them, however, is a bad idea as recent research has shown. Doing so creates a "social reality" - a false sense of accomplishment that can make you less likely to actually put in work.
