Many fans were surprised when Disney brought the Child Grogu and the Mandalorian Din Djarin back together so soon in the Book of Boba Fett after the emotional climax of the Mandalorian Season 2 with Luke Skywalker and R2-D2.

While John Favreau and Dave Filoni may have intended to retcon the Sequel Trilogy, I believe that Kathleen Kennedy and other Lucasfilm executives or Disney overlords may have reacted against this.
