Thoughts from my soap box on reselling:

Don't worry it isn't bad. Resellers aren't taking clothing out of the hands of the needy. We are saving items from the landfills and matching them up with people who want them.

Win-win the buyer gets a desired item of clothing and the dumps get less trash. The landfills are full of clothes and the thrift stores are putting donations in their dumpsters daily. Go hang out at closing time or early in the morning and see for yourself.

Resellers like myself are saving clothes from an undesirable fate! I felt weird about it at first. The more I researched the more I realized it was a good thing for me, a good thing for buyers, a good thing for the thrift stores, and a good thing for the landfills.

People fool themselves about thrift stores not being a business. They do contribute to charity, but they are also businesses. So they are getting paid. Resellers aren't stealing from them and I dare say thrift stores have a higher profit since reselling became en vogue.

Any business person who sells goods is buying them for less than they are turning around and selling them for. People get a little bent out of shape when they see thrift stores involved. The thought is a non reseller going into a thrift store might miss out on something that a reseller purchased. It's true the thrift stores are a much more competitive market than they used to be. But again win-win. Every thrift store in town would be pretty sad if resellers suddenly stopped frequenting them I can tell you that.

So no worries! You would not believe how many items I have found on Poshmark that are no longer for sale that I bought say in I don't know 2005 and it's either worn out or I stained it and I can't replace it and poof there it is on Poshmark because someone cared enough to thrift it and resell it. I am grateful for the joys of secondhand 😊
